Activating Abundance [#33] With The Holidays
Friday Nov 19, 2021
Friday Nov 19, 2021
EP168: In today's episode, I share my tips and tactics for approaching and experiencing the holidays with an abundant mindset:
A few of the things I talk about are:
- how recognizing the misfortune of others helps boost abundant feelings.
- how to look for ways to expand vs. limit and get creative with alternative options for holiday celebrations.
- how to shift into a "give to get" approach vs. focusing only on getting what you want. The book I referenced is called "The Go Giver" by Bob Burg
- how to visualize and be grateful for the day in advance so that the universe can assist you in bringing the holiday event you desire into reality.

Activating Abundance [#31] With Sparketypes
Sunday Nov 07, 2021
Sunday Nov 07, 2021
EP164: This week's episode is inspired by an upcoming free training I'm doing this coming week. (To sign up, go to https://notyouraveragegrandma.com/spark).
I'm excited to share Sparketypes with my audience and offer this training since it's something I do with my students in the Second Half S.P.A.R.K. School™ and it's very powerful information to have.
What you'll get as part of this FREE training:
- The results of your Sparketypes assessment that reveal the work/activity that, when doing, most fulfills you, as well as the work/activity that most drains you.
- A 90-minute training that explains the different Sparketypes, why they provide such important value, and how they’ll help you get lit up and excited about life.
- A workbook with exercises that will guide you in identifying and implementing “sparked” activities immediately in your life.
Learning my Sparketypes made such a huge difference in my life when I first came across them almost 3 years ago. This knowledge helped validate that the career change I was leaning towards was actually the work I came here to do.
If you miss the opportunity to attend my free training this go round, you can go to https://sparketype.com to do the assessment and learn your Sparketypes (Primary, Shadow, and Anti) any time. AND, I'll be doing the free workshop again in December and in January so you can use the same link (https://notyouraveragegrandma.com/spark) to get on the waitlist for the next session.

Activating Abundance [#30] With Travel
Friday Oct 29, 2021
Friday Oct 29, 2021
EP162: Listen in to this week's episode as I share how I've activated so much abundance in my life with travel. I just love how travel experiences make me feel! And having those memories forever adds even more abundance into my life.
If you've been sequestered, like me, in your home from the Covid pandemic for what feels like an eternity, maybe this episode will get you thinking about booking that bucket list trip you've always dreamed of.
I recorded this episode, a couple of days before embarking on my own bucket list trip to Greece. As I was preparing for this trip, I thought it would be fun to take a walk down memory lane and share a few experiences from some of my favorite trips, along with the 4 biggest reasons I love to travel:
1. going to places I've never been and experiencing them for the first time.
2. seeing how other people live, immersing myself in their cultures, and learning about the foods they eat.
3. connecting with family and friends through shared travel experiences.
4. trying new adventures that are unique, often once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, like zip lining in Jamaica and dog sled riding in Aspen.
If you like this episode, then be sure to tune into my next one when I plan to share my Greece experience and all of the abundance it injected into me.

EP161: Anna Whiston-Donaldson is a popular author and speaker whose New York Times bestselling book, Rare Bird: A Memoir of Loss and Love chronicles the raw, early grief of losing her 12 year old son in a freak accident. Selected one of Publishers Weekly’s Best Books of 2014, Rare Bird resonates with readers looking for hope in impossible circumstances.
She also has a children’s book, A Hug from Heaven, that speaks to grieving children from the point of view of a loved one who died. Anna has been featured in The Washington Post, Ladies Home Journal, Woman’s Day, Time Magazine, and other publications both print and online. She lives with her family in the Virginia suburbs, has a blog titled “An Inch of Gray,” and is launching a podcast late 2021.
In this episode, we talked about:
- The crazy parallels between her life and mine, in 17 year intervals (aka cicada time), our kids traversed the same experiences.
- How she channeled her grief about losing her son into writing her first book ‘Rare bird’
- The reality and feelings that come with child loss and the sudden change to the happy life you had
- Common misconceptions about grief
- Adjusting to another unexpected life turn by finding herself pregnant at 46
Anna’s journey moved her from abject grief to helping others heal through her writing, then getting a surprise second chance at parenting with an unplanned pregnancy at age 46. She hopes to inspire people, through sharing her story, to embrace the life you have versus the life you thought you’d have.
