Activating Abundance [#23] With My New Electric Car
Friday Sep 10, 2021
Friday Sep 10, 2021
EP148: In this episode, I talk about how I was trying to decide on whether or not to get a new car and realized I was coming from a lack mindset instead of an abundant one. I walk you through how, once I realized I was doing this and stepped into abundance, so much more abundance was returned to me - more than I had ever anticipated!
I also share all of the things I've learned and love about my new Tesla and the experiences I've gotten that I would have missed out on if I had stayed in my lack mindset and hung on to my 9 year old SUV.
- the crazy different experience of trading in my car, of purchasing a Tesla, and of financing it - all of which are extremely different from the way I've done these things in the past!
- the adjustment of going from a gas to electric car,
- the confidence I've gained from learning something that is totally different from what I've done for almost 50 years,
- the fun and pleasure I'm getting from having my Tesla and how happy it makes me feel every time I look at it.
Is there any decision you are trying to make but now, after listening to this episode, realize you holding back on because you are coming from a place of lack or scarcity instead of abundance and trust?

Let Go To Let In More Than You Ever Thought Possible with Jill Sherer Murray
Monday Sep 06, 2021
Monday Sep 06, 2021
EP147: My guest this week is Jill Sherer Murray. Jill is an award-winning author, journalist, marketing, and communications expert, TEDx speaker, and founder of “Let Go For It,” a lifestyle brand aimed at improving people’s situation through the simple mantra of letting go.
In her TEDx Talk, “The Unstoppable Power of Letting Go” that has million views on YouTube, she shares her own difficult journey of letting go to successfully move forward. That experience led her to write her best-selling book, Big Wild Love: The Unstoppable Power of Letting Go for the many people who reached out to her from all over the world for advice and inspiration after watching her TEDx Talk.
Jill studied improvisational comedy at the famous Second City Training Center in Chicago, wrote a popular blog called “Diary of a Writer in Mid-Life Crisis” for the former Wild River Review magazine, and let go of just about everything to be written about in Shape Magazine—12 times—as part of a year-long assignment to document her weight loss journey for readers. She’s been featured on dozens of podcasts and in Reader’s Digest, Bustle, Brit + Co, Travel & Leisure, Women’s World, Thrive Global, Psychology Today, MSN.com, Happify Daily, Kintsugi, Josh Talks, TEDx, Moonshot Conversations, and more.
Her life goal is to show people that if they're stuck, holding on to what they do NOT want, is not where they need to stay. They don't need another person to create forward motion--or permission. They just need to choose to let go and know they have everything they need inside of them RIGHT NOW to have the life they desire! Whether talking about love or work or whatever, Jill finds just talking about using letting go as a tool for creating change--and not just in conceptual terms, but in practical terms---inspires people to take action.

EP146: In this episode, I read an excerpt from Sarah Ban Breathnach's book "Simple Abundance" which has been one of the most amazing gifts I've given myself this year. This one hit me in the heart AND the gut, and when that happens, I know it's something I need to share with others.
Listen in for the opportunities to gain new perspectives on all of the abundance that is around us and is unseen in so many of our moments.
If you are reading this book as it's designed - an excerpt a day for 365 days - then you haven't come upon this one yet so I apologize for reading ahead of you BUT I thought giving this soul-stirring perspective a whole week to percolate in our thoughts would be a good thing. It's definitely one of the most powerful and jarring excerpts of the whole book.
I'd love for you to send me a DM (direct message) on social media (links are below) and let me know what you thought of this episode. Did it shift anything for you?

EP145: My guest this week, Jackie Armstrong, describes herself as a full-of-life wife, empty nester mom, and grandmother, and passionate promoter of personal growth for herself and all women. She is the creator of “Vision Board by Design” Workshops and Your Dream Recovery Specialist.
Jackie has been empowering women by examining their story, extracting lies, excavating their truest self, exit with the dreams & desires, and helping them execute on their dreams & desires to experience a more fulfilled life. She believes that we can recover our own dreams and desires after the kiddos are gone and pursue them! And that we are NEVER too old!
In this interview, we talk about motherhood and being an empty nester. She told me that she was excited as a young mom to think she’d only be 40 when her daughter graduated from high school, but when the time came and all the dust settled of her daughter’s exit, she found herself not knowing what she truly wanted to do with the rest of her life or even for the next moment for that matter! She shares how she discovered vision boards and how important they are, and she offers great tips on how to get started with your own!

Activating Abundance [#21] By Finding Your Gifts and Getting Creative
Saturday Aug 28, 2021
Saturday Aug 28, 2021
EP144: This is a subject I'm super passionate about because what I came to realize late in life is that WE ARE HERE TO USE OUR GIFTS!!! It's why we came here! So finding our gifts is the most important thing we must do in order to live from our most authentic place and serve the world in the best way possible.
And we mustn't confuse our skills with our gifts! There may be parallels but I've found my gifts are more about the actions and behavior I enjoy and not something I'd find in a job description.
Once you know your gifts, then it's time to get creative in how you can use your gifts to help others. Don't say you're not creative like I did!!! You ARE VERY creative! You just aren't accessing source for help...
The Force IS with you so get quiet, spend time in thoughtful solitude, stop the noise around you, and start listening for the signs from the universe that will guide you. Follow what FEELS GOOD even if it doesn't make sense quite yet.
Be open to the possibilities and believe in a power greater than you!

EP143: My guest for this week’s episode is Emyrald Sinclaire, an intuitive guide and spiritual mentor who helps women to connect with the true desires of their heart, offering them the courage and accountability to follow through and take action on their dreams and giving them the practical tools in order to manifest the love of their lives and the life of their dreams.
Emyrald and I had a great conversation. She shared how she started listening to source, her heart and her spirit and how her gifts unfolded so that now she gets to use those gifts to live her passion as a Spiritual Life & Manifestation Coach.
We also talked about how she came up with her name (interesting story about spiritual alignment!) and why she packed everything up and hit the road 3 months ago and is now living a nomadic lifestyle!
Emyrald believes that the ONLY THING holding you back from everything you desire (the relationship, the money in the bank account, or the dream job) is the belief system that you cannot have it. And she wants to encourage other people to listen to their heart and follow their dreams - even if they are scared and if they don't know the HOW of the next steps to take.

Activating Abundance [#20] With Weddings
Friday Aug 20, 2021
Friday Aug 20, 2021
EP142: I can't think of anything that makes me feel more abundant than a wedding! And I got to attend one last weekend!!!
The couple was supposed to get married last summer but had to postpone it due to the pandemic. They began dating in their freshman year of high school so they've been waiting A LOOOOONG time to become Mr. and Mrs.
I must admit I was a bit nervous to attend a large gathering but I went with the mindset that I'd socially distance but if I was in a crowd, I'd mask up which I did.
It was a black tie optional event so pretty fancy with a sit down dinner and a live band. Even though I love dancing, I steered clear of the dance floor because I couldn't imagine trying to breathe while dancing with a mask on and I certainly didn't want people panting next to me on a crowded dance floor! How times have changed!!! But I did enjoy watching the bride and groom, who are avid dancers, get crazy with their friends.
When you go to a wedding, what feels abundant to you? For me it's:
LOVE!!!
Love at its best when you say "I do" in front of your family and friends.
Love by a father who gives his child away.
Love by parents watching their children commit to their life partner.
Love of friends and family who come from near and far to witness the blessing of this lifetime commitment.
Love of friends and family who get to connect in an extremely fun way, usually by breaking bread, sipping cocktails, and dancing to the best music.
The abundant effect of a wedding can last for days!!! And it starts even before the event as you begin to plan your outfit and get excited for the day, whether you are the bride, the mother of the bride or groom, or an invited guest!
The message I want to leave you with that I feel is the most important part of abundance that we must never forget it to BE PRESENT and grateful for the experience and the people you are with in the moments, as you are living them.
The more you are present and appreciative of what is around you in the moment, the more abundant you'll feel, which will attract more abundance into your life! 💫

Activating Abundance [#19] With A Tragic Story Of Living From A Lack Mindset
Saturday Aug 14, 2021
Saturday Aug 14, 2021
EP140: This episode is deeply personal and I've been watching it unfold for over a year and a half, since January 2020, right before the pandemic changed the world. There have been many very dark days as it has evolved - days fraught with worry and fear by people who are very important to me and I love very much as we wondered how it would play out in the end.
I'm happy to report that we now know and, although we can't go back and undo all the financial losses and hurt that have transpired, there is closure and we can now move on.
It the story of betrayal and theft, and it is very sad. It is about thousands and thousands of dollars stolen over many years from a trusted employee and friend, the kind of a story you read about in the paper then shake your head and hope it never happens to you. But it happened to my brother-in-law, one of the smartest, nicest, most kind-hearted people I know.
I thought it would be a great topic for my Abundance series as a sort of "ANTI-abundant" example and what can happen when you don't believe that abundance is everywhere and live from a place of never having enough - when you can't see the good things in your life that are all around you at every moment of every day, aren't grateful for those things and feel you must take from others to be happy.
When thinking about sharing this story, I thought about 3 Universal Laws in particular, that were clearly in play here and great examples of why we should really pay attention to these laws and trust that they truly are real.

Using Power Tools To Become Empowered In Your Second Half with Shelly Leer
Monday Aug 09, 2021
Monday Aug 09, 2021
EP139: Shelly Leer has been taking apart furniture and rebuilding it for over 20 years. Her familiar voice and easy-to-follow projects have worked their way through the hands of creators from novice to professional. A graduate of Butler University, Shelly holds a B.S. in Education with a concentration in Textiles and Design.
Today, HomeRoom is the studio home to her courses and workshops, and provides a creative space for an expansive student base who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and do satisfying work. And what she loves most now, at age 65, is helping midlife women learn skills and power tools to build a better 2nd half.
In this episode, Shelly openly talks about her major life transformations, including the devastating obstacles, from death to betrayal to divorce - they run the gamut - that she’s had to overcome to grow as a person, and how they’ve helped her become stronger and clearer with her intentions.
She also talks about how, earlier in her life, she departed from her creative side, got trained as a paralegal and worked at one of Indianapolis’ largest law firms before she returned to her true passion of furniture design and upholstery..
She's had projects featured in The Huffington Post and her upholstery classes have been featured in Indianapolis Monthly Magazine. She's been a DIY project contributor and writer for HOUZZ.com, as well as having projects featured in Country Living Magazine, BobVila.com and others. In the late 1990's, Shelly designed and created a line of children's furniture and accessories for one of the first online children's furniture websites, PoshTots.com.
Shelly has also co-authored three books for Curbly.com; Make It: Mid Century Modern, Make It: Secondhand Chic and Make It: Hardware Store Chic AND her first book, “The Little Upholstery Book-A Beginner's Guide to Artisan Upholstery” was published by Schiffer Publishing.
Shelly’s spent time working for British furniture designer and upholsterer Paul A. Howard where she learned the nitty gritty of the custom upholstery business. She went on to become a trailblazer in the rescue, repurpose and rehab movement as she upcycled and flipped furniture before the market understood the value of saving old furniture.
The idea to “teach what you know” led Shelly to teach sewing and design at a housing facility for women and children who had fled domestic abuse. She witnessed firsthand how the process of creative planning and expression can become a valuable tool in confidence building and healing.
Students travel from all over North America and Canada to participate in Shelly's monthly Upholstery Bootcamps. Beyond practical upholstery skills, her classes and workshops have provided a hands-on respite and refreshment for seekers of creative renewal. Her online classes were developed to meet the growing interest and demand for the diminishing upholstery programs across the United States and the world. She’s recently added workshops to teach women how to use power tools for DIY repairs, as well as to build their own small furnishings.
