Monday May 30, 2022
EP228: Today I have no guest interview because I have an important topic I want to talk about - what it means to be ignited. EP 227: The Lesson In Trying
Friday May 27, 2022
Friday May 27, 2022
EP227: Today's lesson in trying came from a recent direct message I received from someone on Instagram, who shared with me that she's very unhappy with her life but told me she was "trying." Over the course of the conversation, it became apparent to me that all she was doing was thinking about taking action but never really doing anything to make changes.
So I took that as a sign to add this topic as a great "lesson learned" topic!
Like I mention at the beginning, the word "try" isn't always disempowering. It depends on the context with which it's used. The point I'm making is we often use it as an excuse to get out of something we need to get done.
So listen in to what I've learned, as both a user of the word myself and hearing it often as a coach, how it's one of those words you need to watch for, and my best tips for what to do when it crosses your lips which I include here as follows:
- Start to be aware of how often you use it and notice when other people use it.
- Why did you feel the need to use it? Are you really making it a maybe? What are the chances you'll actually do it?
- What is behind the lack of commitment? Dig into that! (Listen to my examples of possible reasons that may be causing this.)
Are you "trying" a lot but not getting much done? Then I suggest you start replacing "I'm gonna try to do it." with "I AM going to do it." and see how that feels. Don't be afraid to commit and get the damn thing done! It WILL make a difference in your life!!!
P.S. The book I mentioned is called "Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life: How to Unlock Your Full Potential for Achievement and Success" by Brian Tracy. I read this book a few years ago and it was a game changer for me as I began setting big goals for my second half.

The Lesson In The F Word
Friday May 20, 2022
Friday May 20, 2022
EP225: Today's lesson is actually more of a realization that came up when I was creating a Reel, a newer feature on Instagram and Facebook that I've learned, where you can do short videos using different kinds of audios.
I've been having a blast with them because they let me share what I think are valuable messages but in an informal and often silly way - because I love using humor. The world is too serious so the more I can make someone laugh, while also making them think, the better!
So I came across this audio that I really liked but it had the F word in it. And because I don't normally use that word and I've NEVER used it on social media, it gave me pause. And it made me really afraid to use it because I was worried about what others would think. (I know I shouldn't care but the human in me got in my way!)
The lesson arrived as this realization that the F word triggers me based on my belief system. Of course!!! So many words our ears hear do this to us!
So I decided to explore my reaction and share my observations in this episode which were:
- application of the F word is so very different based on the generation as well as the environment you were brought up in. (The F word is built into our belief system from childhood just like most beliefs!)
- judgement is usually placed on the person using the F word, or any trigger word for that matter, instead of examining the belief behind the trigger.
- if I find that using the F word in some specific cases, like the Reel I did with the audio I shared on the episode, is effective and useful, then others will too.
So I embraced it and let it fly! And in so doing, I found that the act of posting that Reel came with such freedom, acceptance and understanding.
It was such a great lesson and reminder for me that we all just need to be who we are and know that there is so much more to a person than the silly words they use.
If you'd like to check out the Reel I did, you can find it on Instagram or on my Facebook page. When you visit, make sure to like it and leave me a comment so I know you were there!

Monday May 16, 2022
EP224: My guest this week is Dr. Christine Li, a clinical psychologist in New York for the past 20 years and who is known online as the “Procrastination Coach.”. She helps people stop struggling with underperforming at work and at home so they can work smoothly and with high levels of productivity.
Dr. Christine’s unique coaching process is a blend of mindset strategy, time and emotion management tips, and a deep belief in the power we each have when we treat ourselves with love and good self-care. She is the author of the book “5-Minute Self-Discipline Exercises: Stay Motivated, Cultivate Good Habits, and Achieve Your Goals” and the host of the podcast “Make Time for Success.”
In this episode, Dr. Christine and I talked about:
- Her story of struggling with procrastination and a workshop that changed everything for her
- Her 5 letter acronym to help remember how to kick your procrastinating habits

The Lesson In The Magic Of Belief
Friday May 13, 2022
Friday May 13, 2022
EP223: Today I share a lesson I got last week when I went for my mammogram. But it had nothing to do with my boobies!
The lesson was about using my brain to believe things BEFORE they actually happen. I got the idea from a book I just finished called "The Magic Of Believing" by Claude M. Bristol.
I know about visualization and I actually teach it in my program "The Second Half S.P.A.R.K. School™ but I found the book with its many examples of events or outcomes that actually happened from simply repeating phrases or envisioning pictures in your mind before they happen.
I listened to it on Audible but loved it so much that I ended up ordering the paperback. And of course I wanted to share it with you and my personal experience of putting the concept into action.

As an integrative wellness coach, Leslie helps busy professionals achieve their wellness goals in 7 core areas of health including sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships, spirituality, and resilience through stress management, especially, during difficult transitions. - some interesting facts about developmental psychology
Leslie believes that “people only live once, so make it a good one and take REALLY GOOD care of yourself. She said: “I don't want to be at the end of my life and realize that I didn't fulfill my potential or that I lived someone else's goals for me.”
She hopes to inspire you to unapologetically pursue your dreams no matter how old you are. She has followed her dreams on several occasions, including moving to New York City to pursue her singing/acting career, getting a PhD, and eventually starting her own business. [JFDI #2] Connecting With My Dead Father
Friday May 06, 2022
Friday May 06, 2022
EP221: Yep, this episode is a doozy!!! I'm really stepping out into woo woo land with this one! I go into a lot more of my backstory than I typically do in my episodes which, including the telling of this amazing experience, makes this one a bit longer than most.
I honestly didn't know what to expect going into this appointment with a Medium. All I hoped for was that my mom would be able to connect with the love of her life and get something from it and boy oh boy did that happen in spades!
This is an example of something that I wanted to do for a long time. I began thinking about it before I ever met Gail, the Medium. And as I said in the episode, I believe I attracted her into my life, and perhaps my dad had a hand in that. But however it happened, the desire of my mind was enough to bring the opportunity into existence, and for that I'm immensely grateful.
It was an experience of a lifetime. It will be hard to match it. It was unbelievable that I actually got to communicate with my loved one who is no longer physically here. And for any skeptic out there, I know it was him because his personality came through exactly how he was. It was uncanny.
And I was able to get questions answered and the thoughts I've had about my mother's situation and how he would feel about it were validated.
So I finally JUST FRIGGIN' DID IT! I took this thought of mine and put it into action. It was a crazy thought, a scary action (for many reasons), and it was so easy to keep putting off, once I met Gail and knew she could make this happen for me. And now it's become one of the most magical experiences of my life. How about that?!!!
So let my example be an inspiration to you to just go out and JUST FRIGGIN' DO IT!!! Take action on it today!
Below are links to some of the things I referenced in this episode are:
- Episode 187: An Unusual Gift That Is Giving H.O.P.E. To Those Suffering Loss with Gail Johnson
- Episode 32: An Amazing Story of a Coma Patient, His Skeptic Wife, and A Gifted Woman Who Gave Him a Voice, with Jocelyn Montanaro (Client) and Catherine Weissenberg (Medium)
- Book by Eckart Tolle: A New Earth
- Book by Michael Newton: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives

A Beautiful Memoir About Growing Through Grief With Donna Yates Ferris
Monday May 02, 2022
Monday May 02, 2022
EP220: This week’s guest is Donna Yates Ferris, a yoga and transformation coach as well as the writer of a “I-can’t-put-it-down” book that I had the chance to read before our interview. It was so fun to do this interview because I felt like I was talking to a friend.
In her memoir “We’ve Got to Stop Meeting Like This,” Donna shares her path to inner peace, one that was sidelined by repeated difficulties - divorce, grief, illness, addiction, and more. She openly shares the details of a short period in her life that began with the dissolution of her 20+ year marriage after discovering her husband’s affair. This was just the beginning of a 3 year roller coaster that led her to become an expert on resilience.
If you feel overwhelmed and maybe even defeated by life's changes and challenges and need some inspiration by hearing a true story that proves you never know what the future has in store for you, this conversation is for you.
In this interview, we talk about:
- what prompted her to write a memoir and share her story
- some of the things she went through without trying to give away too many of the jaw-dropping details
- the idea of burning karma
- battling addiction and how yoga therapy and a dog helped her
Once I picked Donna’s book up, I couldn’t stop reading it so if you’re looking for a juicy story that has just about everything in it - from extramarital affairs to navigating divorce with teens to online dating to changing jobs/careers late in life to exploring a new passion to sudden loss to recovery and ultimately to a happy ending, this book is a must have.
I hope you enjoy this interview and getting to know Donna as much as I did..
